RENER Arthur Maria (pseudonym René PLOMTEUX) (1912-1991) Oil on panel Dimensions of the work: 80 x60 cm Dimensions with frame: 81.5 x 61.5 cm Signed Painter, etcher and sculptor of fantastic art and visionary. Briefly studied at Saint-Luc and at the Academy of Liège. Is essentially self-taught. Started in 1943 in Liège. Meticulously represents an imaginary, geometric and futuristic universe, populated by nudes, filled with images of erotic dreams. Creates abstract compositions in the 1950s reminiscent of prehistoric cave paintings. Discovers abstraction around 1960. Designs as a sculptor totems influenced by African art. Member of the Origines, Liberté and Fantasmagie art circles. Collections: Municipal collection (Schaerbeek) French Community of Belgium (Brussels)
