"Armand Boutrolle (1886-1972) Lovely Young Oriental Woman Carrying Samaritan Water In Plâtre"
In plaster patinated in imitation of bronze, this lovely young woman who carries her jug on her shoulder refers to the episode of Jesus and the Samaritan woman in the Gospel according to St John (IV, 1-30). This theme was very fashionable at the dawn of the 20th century. The artist has endeavored to meticulously restore the fineness of the details: draping of the dress, great delicacy of the facial features, the beetle - Egyptian lucky charm - which adorns her dress while maintaining it.... She still has its original brass cartridge bearing the inscription: "Samaritan Woman by Boutrolle". On the back is inscribed: "185 A. Boutrolle - manuscript hollowed in the paste - and CF deposited Paris". Dimensions: Height: 65 cm Base: 23 cm / 17.7 cm Weight: 4.3 kg Good condition. The original polychromy has some patina jumps, wear and stains of seniority (see photos). Many other objects to discover in my stand at the antique fairs in which I participate.
