Two beautiful drawings with their original golden frames by the German painter Albert GAFLE (sometimes written GRAEFLE), born in 1807, died in 1889).
He studied at the Academy of Fine Arts with Franz Winterhalter.
He is known for his portraits of members of the monarchy and the nobility. He has painted Queen Victoria, the Emperor and Empress of Mexico, the Grand Duke and the Grand Duchess of Baden-Baden and has also painted the portrait of Beethoven.
He was awarded the gold medal at the 1845 Salon by King Louis Philippe.
The drawings are signed and dated at the bottom right 1833.
