Sculpted by Mihaly Biro, this bronze (dating to 1928-29) is the scaled-down version of a large-scale monument commissioned by the Bratislava Cable company, commemorating the workers who kept industry humming. The musculature of the figure's back and arms are beautifully detailed, and the piece is a tribute to those who made 20th century industry possible. .Biró is internationally considered the founder of political poster art, he is world famous for his groundbreaking designs of the 1910s. His works had a great impact on the next generations of poster artists and his contemporaries all over Europe and in the United States.
