"Large Fireplace Screen - Louis XIII Period"
Very large Louis XIII period fireplace screen, early 17th century
Structure in walnut, pegged, feet ending in "goat's hooves" surmounted by a slight festoon.
Very nice patina, traces of restoration on one foot and lack of wood on the central volute at the bottom, below, (not detrimental to the aesthetics of the whole).
Ancient traces of xylophages.
Sliding screen in 17th century tapestry, in bright colors, depicting the abduction of Helen of Troy by Paris (on a more recent wooden frame).
Petit point highlights all around the tapestry, highlighting the central part.
Piece with holes and lack of material (see photos), light retouching over.
Large dimensions for this Haute Epoque piece.
