VALERY MULLER 1858-1916 The fairing of a barge on the Seine Oil on canvas signed lower right 26.5 X 41 CM "From the School of Rouen to which we cannot deny his membership, he will be influenced by Joseph Delattre and Robert Pinchon.In 1904, Albert Legrip, "true Norman Tanguy father", offered him the picture rails of his gallery for an exhibition.The same year, he participated in the Salon of the National Society of Fine Arts.There he mainly showed views of Paris: the Pont Marie, bridges being a recurring theme in his work, and the Apple Market.This show opened its doors to him again in 1906 and 1907. Three years later, he honored the Rouen Artists: his canvases represent views of Rouen or surrounding landscapes that are very clearly impressionist."
