"Small Cylinder Desk In Mahogany, Louis XVI Style - Late Nineteenth"
This small desk in solid mahogany and mahogany veneer has a cylinder part made of molded solid mahogany slats, sliding upwards using a leaf-shaped brass finger handle. The solid mahogany top benefits from a large ogee molding on the front, the shape of which announces and profiles the cylinder part. When opened, this dainty little desk reveals a pull-out shelf with a mitred surround and oxblood red leather with blind stamp, gold stamp and center scrolled stamp. The tabernacle is composed of two drawers decorated with buttons and rosettes. In the center and on each side we find solid elements of fluted wood, surmounted by a large storage compartment. This desk is equipped with a belt drawer opening using a key with its original lock in working order and its bronze entry. At the corners, above the feet we notice three grooves on the front and sides. The set rests on four solid mahogany sheath legs underlined at the top by a molded brass square and end with brass clogs. This small Restoration period desk will delight you with its ideal dimensions, the beauty of its wood, its ingenuity and its magnificent leather.
