"Commode In Solid Mahogany Stamped F. Bury, Louis XVI Period - XVIIIth"
Beautiful Louis XVI chest of drawers in solid mahogany and Cuban mahogany veneer stamped Ferdinand BURY (1740-1795) and marked with the Jurande hallmark of cabinetmakers (1751-1789). Ferdinand Bury, known as Ferdinand, obtained his master's degree on July 27, 1774 and immediately met with immense success thanks to his talent and the care he brought to the realization of his furniture and art furniture. His bronzes were essentially made by Antoine-André Ravrio, a brilliant and renowned engraver. This mahogany dresser is topped with anthracite gray and white marble in perfect condition, which has a groove around it. This piece of furniture is made up of a belt drawer that is smaller in height. The recessed front reveals a very thin band around this drawer. Below, there are two identical drawers with the same characteristics as the previous one. Each drawer is lined with Louis XVI pull handles and an original entrance, key and lock in working order. The legs of this chest of drawers are half-round and made up of three fixed grooves. They end with a foot turned at the bottom accompanied by a brass shoe. The square-edged rear legs also have 3 splines and end like the front legs. The side panels are slightly set back from the lower and upper crosspieces and the feet. Note that the back of this dresser, as well as the bottoms and sides of the drawers, are in Oak. True testimony to the know-how of Ferdinand Bury, a renowned 18th century cabinetmaker, this 250-year-old chest of drawers will charm you with its balanced aesthetics and the warm shades of mahogany species, which will fit perfectly into a contemporary decoration.
