"Auguste Pélabon (1863-1932) The Family Bath At Mourillon In Toulon"
For Var collectors, this beautiful Toulon anecdote by Auguste Pélabon. The work represents a seaside establishment, the Bain des Familles in the Mourillon district of Toulon, with the Fort du Préfet Maritime in the background. Signed and dated (18)93 lower right, it is offered in a beautiful 19th century channel frame which measures 37 cm by 42 cm, and 19 cm by 24 cm without the frame. Pupil of Pierre Letuaire then William Bouguereau and Tony Robert-Fleury, he exhibited at the Salon des Artistes Français from 1885 to 1891. He also attended regional exhibitions: 3rd medal in Aix en Provence in 1896, we still meet him in Toulon in 1902 (Chemin du Cap Brun, Morning Effects, and On the Coast in Toulon) and in Hyères in 1923 (Sunset). The Museum of Fine Arts of Toulon preserves among others, the portraits of Pierre Letuaire, of the Composer Hippolyte Duprat (Depot of the Courthouse), of the mayor Prosper Ferraro as well as the Grandfather and his Granddaughter. The City of Sanary, for its part, acquired at auction in February 2006 the Port of Sanary (1891).
