"Village Of Gandria On Lake Lugano By Alois Arnegger (austrian 1879-1967)"
View of the picturesque village of Gandria on Lake Lugano and Mount Monte Brè in the background. This colorful painting was executed at the beginning of the 20th century by the famous Austrian landscape painter Alois Arnegger (1879-1967). The artist studied at the Vienna Academy under R. Russ and Eisenmenger and became his fame and popularity among collectors around the world for his Italian panoramic views and landscapes of the Alps. Other works by A. Arnegger see under article numbers: 2, 1509, 1799, 1825, 4978. Gandria on Lake Lugano is the last Swiss village before the Italian border. The mountain peaks in front of the residential area are already on Italian soil, but the center of the village below them still belongs to Switzerland: it is the Cantine di Gandria, where the inhabitants stored wine, sausages and cheese in a cool place.
