"Emmanuel Noterman (1808 - 1863) Waiting For Dinner"
The large genre scene with two adorable king charles spaniels, waiting for a reward, was executed in 1846 by the famous Belgian animal and genre artist Emanuel Noterman (1808 Oudenaarde - 1863 Antwerp). Painter of portraits, animals and genre scenes. Excelled in portraying dogs and monkeys in human roles. Pupil of JB Maescanini and P.Kremer. Around 1846 Noterman had a studio at the Antwerp Academy. He exhibited in Brussels from 1836 and occasionally worked with F. Lamorinière, works which he often enriched with animals. Represented in the Museums Amsterdam, Brussels, Chlons-sur-Marne, Liège, Brooklyn, Montreal.
