Graphite and brown wash depicting a country lane running along the wall of a property. Glued on a sheet in the upper part. Very finely executed. Infinite shades of brown, of sepia that only wash can create. Blue stamped stamp of the artist's studio sale lower right (Lugt 2002a). Dimensions: Height: 19.6 cm Length: 27.2 cm. Slightly insolated and small bites (see photos). Provenance: Paris, Workshop sale on February 18 and 19, 1859 followed by a second workshop sale which took place on December 21, 1874. Pierre Justin Ouvrié, born in Paris, was a pupil of Abel de Pujol, de Châtillon and of Baron Taylor at the School of Fine Arts in Paris. He exhibited at the Salon from 1831 to 1873 landscapes as well as views of cities, where he enjoyed great success. He died in a hospice in Sotteville-Lès-Rouen.
