"Pair Of Baluster Vases, Louis XVI Style - 2nd Half Of The Nineteenth"
Pair of large covered baluster vases, in sea green marble veined with white and with chiseled and gilded bronze mounts. The canted base supports a fluted pedestal, sculpted with knotted laurel tori. The belly is embellished with a frieze of laurels with ribbons and flanked by rams' muzzles. The neck is decorated with tied garlands suspended from a frieze of meanders. The cove lid is surrounded by a frieze of gadroons and surmounted by a grain grip. Rich in ornamentation, these remarkable vases attract the eye with their undeniable presence.
