Directoire Period, Pair Of Antique-style Statuettes On Pedestals, Later Mounted As Lamps

Beautiful pair of antique statuettes, female and male characters, each holding an amphora vase (later mounted as an electric lamp).

They rest on column pedestals mounted on square bases, the overflowing base of the columns is embellished with a thick guilloché lip surmounted by a curved cove with a polished surface and a frieze of pearls.
The cylindrical part decorated with four mascarons linked together by ribbons like trimmings.
The characters are dressed in generously pleated drapes, their bodies partially bare, their faces and hair very finely chiseled.
For information, you will notice that the wired equipment for electrification was removed by me, the fabric wires were extremely damaged and in fact it was dangerous to leave them in place.
However, a discreet re-electrification would be very easy to put back in place.
