"The Rest Of Animals Oil On Canvas From The XIXth Century"
This painting, an oil on canvas, represents different animals at rest on the edge of a wood in an idealized landscape: 2 cows, 3 sheep and a donkey. Their stylization made us think of a painter of the 17th century, the painter Dutchman of the Golden Age Karel Dujardin, born in 1626 in Amsterdam and died in Venice in 1678, known for his Italianate landscapes. And our research has confirmed that our painting is a copy of a painting by Dujardin. It dates from the beginning of the 19th century at the latest, but according to its chassis it could also have been painted during the 18th century, or even earlier. Regardless, we are in front of a painting that seduces with its warm colors, the successful contrast between light and dark parts and the finesse of the brushes in the treatment of animals. The painting is in very good condition, its gilt wood frame also.
