Large Demon Mask Decorated With 5 Citipatis, Nepal, 1st Half Of The 20th Century flag

Object description :

"Large Demon Mask Decorated With 5 Citipatis, Nepal, 1st Half Of The 20th Century"
A surprising ceremonial Nepali mask in papier-mâché representing a demon of the Buddhist religion.
be careful it is really large:
44 cm high by 34 cm wide and 22 cm deep.
it is very nicely worked and openwork at the level of the mouth and the nostrils.
original polychromy whose color pigments have retained their very vivid hues.
this demon appears with its mouth open showing its tongue and fangs.
his reddish face is adorned with a beard and fiery eyebrows.
the eyes are menacing, three eyes, the third as usual.
he wears a crown adorned with five citipatis, smiling skulls, also inflamed.
one of the flames and one of the jewels covering the citipati on the far right has disappeared.
otherwise very good general condition, just a few small lacks of polychromy visible in the photos.
a very beautiful large mask ideal for a collection or a Curiosites cabinet.
