Eugène Selmy was born in 1874 in Clermont - L'Hérault. He was a pupil of Bonnat, Léon Glauze and A. Maignant.
He exhibited at the Salon of French Artists where he exhibited regularly from 1900 and obtained an honorable mention, in 1902 he obtained a third class medal and the Marie Bashkirtseff prize, a travel grant in 1904, a second class medal in 1906.
Knight of the Legion of Honor in 1919.
