About... Paul JACQUET (1883-1968)
Paul Jacquet was born in Pers-Jussy (Haute-Savoie) on June 23, 1883. After a happy childhood, he became a teacher, like his father, while preparing for the drawing professorship. At the Beaux-Arts in Geneva, he developed a passion for the chiaroscuros of Rembrandt and the prints of Hokuzaï. He will become an enthusiastic teacher and will remain so until his retirement. Passionate about ceramics, but being a civil servant, he could not trade in it on a large scale, so he created a workshop around 1913. He carried out the two activities together all his life. He begins to make ceramics in the Savoyard tradition but harmonizing the form with his designs and colors. Becoming a member of the Société des Beaux-Arts de Savoie and then of the Société des Artistes Décorateurs, he exhibited a lot. He collaborated with the PRIMAVERA workshops between 1920 and 1925.
