"Important Property Library In Mahogany, Louis XVI Style - Late Nineteenth"
Large library in solid and veneered mahogany, opening with three doors. The latter are composed, on three quarters of their surfaces, of bevelled panes, rounded at the ends or in their angles, and underlined by bronze moldings. The central door, with projection, locks, and it is also wider than the two sides, provided simply with pretty ornate pull handles. In the upper parts, these three doors are decorated with bronze scrolls and rosettes. In the lower part, you can admire the pretty marquetry on solid panels, where harps, mandolin, shawls and bells dominate in the middle of foliage and flowery decorations. These scenes are also enhanced by a chiseled and beaded bronze surround. The interior of this piece of furniture is partitioned and equipped with racks. Its fifteen shelves are therefore perfectly modular. The molded cornice of this library is embellished with a frieze of ovals, and overhangs a long bronze foliage on the central part. The front uprights of this piece of furniture are fluted, trimmed at the top and bottom with finely worked asparagus, and the sides repeat the composition of the right and left doors. The set rests on six feet in sheaths, with flanges and brass shoes, and is completely removable by a simple system of reminder screws. Obviously we will remember the finesse of this library as a whole, and in particular the quality of its marquetry, in which the musical theme is illustrated with undeniable precision.
