Equestrian Museum: Remarkable Wooden Stirrup, Hispanic Colonies, 18th Or Before flag

Object description :

"Equestrian Museum: Remarkable Wooden Stirrup, Hispanic Colonies, 18th Or Before"
Incredible carved wooden stirrup, of good quality, hardwood with superb patina, monoxyle.
Of elaborate shape, attractively carved, posing, (when posed) on 6 feet, two side uprights with buttresses are decorated with friezes of foliage, and rising flutes; on top, a butt, (one is missing), and the passage for the retaining strap. At foot' tip, a beautiful decoration, very elegant, a kind of coat of arms surrounded by scrolls with rolled up foliage. One of the uprights, split, shows a superb old repair, artistic twisted iron seam.
I know nothing for sure of the origin and period of this beautiful object, despite my research, consider my opinion as an honestly formulated hypothesis.
Superb piece of equestrian folk art. 17.5cm x 13.5cm x 13cm.
Condition: a lack, a nice repair.
