"Pair Of Elegant Etruscan Chairs From The Directoire Period In The Taste Of Jacob"
Pair of graceful chairs in lacquered and molded wood, the back with a rounded headband. Our chairs are typical of the so-called "Etruscan" style in vogue under the Directory. Parisian work from the end of the 18th century, in the years 1790-1800. The lines are particularly elegant for this work to be compared to the work of Georges Jacob. Typical of his work, we find the belt which shrinks at the back and the rounded front uprights. Without a stamp, it is difficult to attribute this model with certainty: our chairs may therefore be the work of Georges Jacob or his talented cousin Henri Jacob, or even that of a good follower working in the style of Jacob. Very good condition, reinforcements from use under the belt, relacquered and patinated seats, new satin cover with Lelièvre lines. width 47cm backrest height 82cm seat height 42cm
