Large old painting from the mid-19th century, oil on canvas signed lower left by the Toulousain painter Léon Fauré, representing the meeting of Louis XIV as a child and Cardinal Mazarin in a garden of a ducal palace. A native of Villemur, Léon Fauré went to Paris to attend the School of Fine Arts and then became a pupil of Eugène Delacroix for many years. After a trip to the Villa Medici, he moved to Toulouse and continued his career as a painter and professor of fine arts. Very beautiful large format history painting on its original canvas and frame.
