Object description :

"Old Tabriz Rug, 138 Cm X 178 Cm, Persia (iran) Hand-knotted Wool, 19th Century"
A beautiful old piece as I like to unearth them, this very beautiful Tabriz decorated with mihrab in beautiful orange-red dates from the 19th century. The soft and fine wool that composes it still retains its beautiful colors.
This mat measures 138 cm wide by 178 cm long.
Intended for decoration rather than prayer, this piece ignites a vase from which springs a tree of life covered with flowers and from which many birds alight on a vault of branches that supports the mihrab.
Other flowers adorn the spandrels of the mihrab on a blue background.
The tais is certainly worn but the colors remain frank.
The texture is very solid, this beautiful artifact can be kept as it is or undergoes a slight restoration on the edges.
Two large blue peacocks that are often found in Persian culture are placed at the base of the carpet on each side of the vase
Tabriz (Azeri: Təbriz/ تبریز, formerly Tauris), is the capital of the province of East Azerbaijan, northwest of Iran (Iranian Azerbaijan) It lies on the course of the Talkheh River (also called Aji-Chāi), near Lake Urmia, close to the borders of the Republic of Azerbaijan and Armenia.)
Tabriz is the gateway to Persia from north to west, Tabriz rugs are extremely important in the quality of Persian rugs.
The Tabriz are among the most popular carpets in the world, their work is always very fine and durable over time.
This rug has been professionally and environmentally cleaned.
