The "Martin varnish" invented at the end of the Regency by the Martin brothers brought, as an alternative to lacquered panels from China or Japan, a high and remarkable level of design and decorative realization with patterns from China or Japan allowing to respond to strong demand from the nobility and the bourgeoisie in France and throughout Europe.
This powdery hairdresser dates from this period, it is in very good condition with its structure and its black and gold lacquer decorations, note small covers and very small gaps.
The front has: - on the left 2 false drawers (because of the box),
- in the center a large drawer lined with fine velvet,
- on the right a drawer and a false drawer.
The draws are made by original buttons / quillons including the central one in bronze.
The top presents: **The central flap, by raising it, presents the original mirror on the front, **The left flap allows you to raise a sub-top and discover a set of body care objects 18th century on the original support of blue color with thin entourage braid.
Set of objects recomposed by a restocking:
- 3 crystal bottles, 2 of which have a silver closure each, the 3rd including a perfume with its glass stopper, all 18th, - 3 pots of make-up and ointment in Saint-Cloud porcelain 18th century,
- 2 18th century silver funnels, one of which is vermeil,
- 1 18th century silver pedestal cup. **The right flap opens onto an empty box lined with fine velvet in good condition.
