Bronze plaquette, Adoration of the Magi, 16th century
Set in a molded frame, this plaquette shows in the middle Saint Joseph and the Virgin Mary sat in front of him, holding the Infant Jesus on her knees. One of the Magi who has put his crown on the ground, is kneeling and kiss the hand of the Child. Standing on both sides, the two others Magi present vases as offering. In the background, in front of an architectural scenery with columns and arches, the ox and the donkey take place on the right, and servants of the Magi with horses on the left.
Excellent condition, fine cast, brown patina. The notch on the back shows that this plaquette should originally have a suspension loop.
