Oil on panel Dimensions of the work: 60 x 40 cm Dimensions with frame: 80 x 60 cm Signed RENER, Arthur-Maria dit Plomteux René, Bressoux (Liège), 1912 - Waterloo, 1991 Painter, engraver, sculptor, brother of AT. and L. Plomteux. Followed evening classes at the Institut Saint-Luc in Liège for three years, then continued as an autodidact. First figurative painter of compositions. From the 1930s until around 1965, produced an abstract painting where the reference to reality sometimes surfaces. From the middle of the 1940s, he undertook a parallel surreal work whose main theme was a spatial universe, punctuated by spheres and populated by naked beings close to the human model, with architectures and planes in weightlessness, whose vanishing lines, reinforced by checkered surfaces, are lost in space. Member of the groups Origines, Liberté and Fantasmagie. Collections: Municipal collection (Schaerbeek) French Community of Belgium (Brussels)
