Assortment of 10 Geissler tubes in a compartmentalized cardboard box, the tubes have various spherical chambers and decorative serpentine paths for some, most are iridescent yellow-green (urethane glass) and retain their metal tips for connecting to Ruhmkorff induction coils. One compartment contains various accessories: lead pencils, copper wire, tips...
Mass-produced in the 1880s, these tubes were used for electricity experiments in physics cabinets for the luminous effects called glows that they produced.
Nice set, tubes with their end caps, the cardboard box shows some wear to the outside.
