The bright colors of this painting offer the vision that travelers of the 1920s discovered when arriving at the Old Cataract of Aswan. This oil on panel is signed LEMM Guy (M.LEMAIRE) (1888 - 1962) Marguerite Lemaire, a wealthy young girl was the daughter of the owner of the Grande Brasserie des Gares du Nord. Passionate about travel, her works are a real report on the countries she visited and on the social life of the interwar period. Self-taught, she suffered no school influence. She paints on the spot with a lot of freedom in the line, while keeping the pictorial material. This gives a very lifted paint. Panel dimensions 34.5 x 26.5
