Vittorio Caradossi (1861-1918)
Vittorio Caradossi, one of the most important names in Italian academic sculpture of the second half of the 19th century. He studied at the Academy of Fine Arts in Florence, where he was a pupil of Augusto Rivalta. He executed several public monuments, notably his famous statue of the Florentine Renaissance sculptor Desiderio da Settignano, whose model was exhibited at the Universal Exhibition of 1900, as well as the memorial to Giuseppe Dolfi, hero of the Tuscany Risorgimento, located in Borgo San Lorenzo. He also exhibited at the 1909 edition of the Paris Salon.
