"NIMBA" status, BAGA ethnic group, Lower Guinea, Africa, period of the year 50. XX°. Deformation of the word "DEMBA" and "D'MBA", among the BAGA, or goddess of fertility. It represents a woman with a prominent nose that resembles the beak of the Hornbill, a bird that is part of African folklore and mythology, symbolizing fertility and growth. The goddess also has falling breasts evoking fertility. The thin and cylindrical neck leads to a very particular head which is characterized in the first place by its large volume. The face consists of a hooked profile, two large, slightly protruding eyes and a small tubular mouth, facial face dyed white. From the nose, starts a small crest on a large forehead which is prolonged by a large transverse crest ending in the nape of the neck. The hairstyle consists of braid on either side of the large crest surrounding ears worked in the shape of a horizontal "U".
