Object description :

"The Itinerant Water Seller, Goldsheider Terracotta From The XIX Eme Century"
Very large polychrome orientalist terracotta signed Goldsheider and representing a traveling water seller. Please note this is a large terracotta with a fashionable subject at the end of the 19th century following trips to the Orient and to the countries of North Africa.
a traveling water seller, a street seller whose attitude is very lively, shouting and walking in full swing, one would think he had come straight out of a street in Cairo, or from an album of Tintin and the cigars of pharaoh!
take a good look at the details:
the very finely worked face, the colors of the turban and the matching belt, the garment awkwardly sewn up in places, the huge jug of water that he carries on his side thanks to a strap over his shoulder.
we are in a scene of life faithfully restored.
very beautiful polychromy and very good general condition, the handle of the jug may have been restored a very long time ago.
beautiful satin and matte patina.
a good signature under the terracotta marked in hollow with stamp and number.
a very beautiful large-scale orientalist terracotta showing the small trades of the streets.
dimensions: height 66 cm and base 17 cm wide by 22 cm deep.
