Painter, sculptor, draughtsman, virtuoso, creator of bindings, jewelry, decorative art objects , Victor Prouvé was one of the greatest artists of the Nancy Art Nouveau School. Valuable collaborator of Louis Majorelle and Emile Gallé, he became president of the Ecole de Nancy on the death of the latter in 1904. Like one of his most famous decorations, "la joie de vivre", his works celebrate happiness, sensuality, family life. His son was the architect Jean Prouvé.
