"Transition Commode, Gh Lutz Stamp, 18th Century"
Transition Period Commode, in Satin Veneer, Rosewood and Light Wood Fillets, Stamped GH LUTZ and JME (Jurande des Maîtres Ebénistes). The Facade has a slight projection. It opens on the front with 5 drawers in 3 rows. It rests on Small Arched Feet, covered with Golden Bronzes in the shape of Lions Claws. The rounded uprights are adorned with gilded bronzes in the shape of Lions' Heads with Garlands of Laurels. The belt is adorned with a Cul de Lampe embellished with a Bronze with Lion's Muzzle surmounted by a cassolette. She is wearing a red marble veined with gray. Our Dresser is stamped GH LUTZ, on the front upright. It measures 128 cm in length, 61 cm in depth and 88 cm in height. GH LUTZ (1736-April 4, 1812) was a Cabinetmaker of German origin, received Master on October 10, 1766. He comes from Hanover, and moved to Paris, in his workshop in Rue des Gravilliers, he manufactures Louis XV, Transition or Louis XVI furniture. A chest of drawers stamped GH LUTZ was sold for 25,000 euros on April 20, 2016, at Artcurial.
