"Pair Of Candlesticks, Brussels 1730-34, Solid Silver, From Trooz"
Extremely rare pair of Louis XV period candlesticks in sterling silver. They are a bit smaller in size, usually described as toilet or desk candlesticks. The umbilicus of the foot is engraved with a later coat of arms surmounted by a crown belonging to the family of Trooz, magistrates and academicians originating from Louvain. Their form is very elegant but unusual at the beginning of the eighteenth century. They bear the four regulatory hallmarks of the city of Brussels: silversmith's hallmark unfortunately difficult to read, head of the Archangel Saint-Michel, Brabant lion and crowned letter-date O for the period 1730-1734. They weigh 700 grams.
