Of Swedish origin, Siri Rathsman, born in Sundsvall spent a good part of her life in France, as a painter and journalist.
First trained at the University of Gothenburg, she arrived in Paris, where she studied at the Académie Moderne with Emile Othon Friesz and Raoul Dufy, then with Diego Rivera.
She stayed in the Nice region in the 1920s where she produced landscapes close to the School of Paris.
Our seaside belongs to this first figurative era, marked by Expressionism.
Afterwards, she turned first to Surrealism, then to Abstract art, like many artists of her generation.
