Annotations on the back: "Painted by my friend Lépine in 1868. C Corot."
Stanislas Lépine is a French landscape painter of the 19th century. Close to Corot, Fantin-Latour and artists from the Barbizon School, he is considered one of the artists who paved the way for Impressionism.
In this landscape, Stanislas Lépine transports us to the snowy countryside of the village of Auvers-sur-Oise. This oil on canvas, with pale hues, nevertheless reflects a peaceful and warm atmosphere thanks to this enveloping light.
