Allegorical subject of a young woman playing the Aulos , she symbolizes "Euterpe" which in Greek mythology means " who knows how to please ", she was the muse who presided over the music and had invented the Aulos (double flute) .
With this representation of a young girl crowned with flowers and playing this double flute , E. Drouot wanted to express how much the arts have charm for those who cultivate them .
