"Lioness On The Watch, Roger Godchaux (1878-1958)"
Terracotta signed Roger Godchaux (1878-1958), representing a lioness on the lookout. Old edition from the Susse Frères workshop. Roger Godchaux is a French animal designer and sculptor, student of the Julian Academy and admirer of Antoine Louis-Barye. Roger Godchaux works by modeling the earth, treating the surfaces by smoothing and oblique streaks (unlike other animal sculptors like Sandoz or Pompon whose works are smooth. His work is close to the art of Paul Jouve who leaves visible textures).
