Luxurious Worker In Mother Of Pearl Marquetry

Remarkable worker or small chiffonier table in mother-of-pearl marquetry from the Napoleon III period. Octagonal in shape, this worker rests on a quadripod shaft and opens at the top with a brass hinge. The precious interior is completely covered in lilac-coloured wild silk, three trapezoidal compartments around the perimeter with a lid and grip button covered with black silk threads and one without a lid where the hinge compass slides. Four other fixed parts in each corner serve as a needle-stick. Another large octagonal compartment in the center closing with an elegant lid matching the others. The depth of the small compartments, intended to store sewing equipment, haberdashery etc. is on average 6 cm. The depth of the large central compartment is 31 cm and tapers towards the bottom. The silk set is in perfect condition, beautifully made and has kept all its shine. The inside of the lid is decorated with a "rose" bouquet. The exterior brings together a multitude of burgau marquetry friezes, enhanced with gilded foliage. Beautiful work of an architectural landscape on the ogee lid. Strong cove well decorated for the upper part of the cabinet. Each part of this charming little piece of furniture is decorated, the superb winding of the legs is also richly decorated with mother-of-pearl chips.
