The French medalist and sculptor Jean-Auguste BARRE was one of the official artists he worked for Louis-Philippe 1st, The Duchess of Orléans, he made nearly 26 busts of Napoleon III and many effigies of Empress Eugénie. He made many medal portraits and we owe him the statute representing Prudence for the Saint-Michel fountain in Paris. A similar medal of a profile of a gentleman is in the Cleveland Museum of Art (USA).
