The Gashghaï confederation includes different tribes. A few examples: the Bozorg kashkulis (the big ones), the Kuchek kashkulis (the little ones), the Shishbolukis (six districts), the Amalehs or Yalamehs (workers, servants of the Khan).
Beautiful harmony of colors for this large kashkuli kilim. In the center, there is an interpretation of the 'S'* motif as well as two eight-pointed Stars of Medes. Different borders harmonize with the field: 'aleh abassi'** border on a beige background, 'ram's horn' border on an orange background and border composed of 'göl'*** on a gray abraché**** background.
*The 'S' motif originally represents a two-headed dragon that could be observed on ancient Persian, Chinese and Celtic bronzes.
**Aleh abassi: tulip.
***Göl or Gul: polygon-shaped element (flower).
****Abrache: term designating a variation of tones in the same color.
