Napoleon III Diplomat Sword

Beautiful sword from the Second Empire period.
The model is classically called "Diplomat's Sword", which is correct, but incomplete.
Indeed it should be known that this model of sword was also attributed to the high officials of the State, as well as to certain magistrates.
BLADE: It is an elegant blade with 3 hollow sides; decorated with engravings which still retain remnants of gilding. Most likely this blade was originally blue and gold. Blade length 72.5 cm
GUARD: Very nice carving work, On the fix shell, we find of coursethe imperial eagle The quillons are straight and chiseled, with a central part in steel.
POMMEL : It is trilobed, chiselled and shows the imperial eagle.
GRIP : Chiselled, gilded, with bands of burnished steel.
SCABBARD : In leather with scabbard entry and richly chiselled gilt chape
This luxuous weapon is certainly one of the most beautiful swords of French armament.
It is completely original, without any restoration.
It should easily find its place on the desk of a gentleman of good taste.
