Dimensions: 54 cm high X 27 cm wide. Louis Chalon (1866-1940) is a French painter and sculptor. he studied with Jules Lefebre and Boulanger. He creates many interior objects (lamps, inkwells, vases, clocks), where he takes up the popular theme of the woman-flower. Louis Chalon exhibits regularly at the Salon of the Society of French Artists. He participated in the Universal Exhibition in Paris in 1900 and exhibited at the Salon from 1898 to 1911 as a painter, book illustrator and sculptor. The artistic current of Art Nouveau is represented in his works with ancient, mythological subjects, busts and Wagnerian figures. He is also the author of a remarkable series of illustrations by Rabelais. His works are exhibited at the Musée du Petit-Palais in Paris and at the Museum of Fine Arts in Brussels.
