The scene in front of the Estonian farmhouse was painted by the Estonian-German painter Gregor Bochmann (1850 Nehat/Estonia - 1930 Hösel from Düsseldorf). Apprenticeship with Theodor Albert Sprengel in Reval (Tallinn). Studies: 1868-71 with a Revaler Schiller scholarship at the Art Academy in Düsseldorf with Oswald Achenbach. Here from 1895 pulpit. Travels in Estonia and the Netherlands. Paints landscapes and popular subjects of Estonian and Dutch fishermen in old brownish coloring. Later, he approaches Impressionism.
