ORLOFF Alexander (1899-1979) Cubist composition Oil on panel Dimensions of the work: 45 x 20 cm Dimensions with frame: 67 x 47.5 cm Alexander Orloff is a painter of Russian origin; He spent his childhood in Russia. In 1924 he left Russia and moved to Prague, where he attended the Ukrainian School of Fine Arts. He exhibits in various galleries in Czechoslovakia and Poland. In 1933 he had a personal exhibition at the Prague Karasek Gallery. He participates in several artistic associations, becomes an illustrator for "Praguer Press". He moved to France in 1933, where he exhibited at the Salon des Tuileries, at the Salon des Indépendants, at the Salon de l'Art libre and at the Exposition des Réalités Nouvelles. He has participated in exhibitions of artists of Russian origin from the School of Paris and other collective exhibitions. He held personal exhibitions in 1969, 1973, 1975. He spent the last years of his life in the Russian retirement home Zemgora in Cormeilles-en-Parisis;. His cubist work began in Prague. His painting evolved into a more Symbolist style in the 1930s.
