"Pair Of Tinned Copper Mirrors - Italy - Eighteenth Century"
This charming pair of mirrors was made in Italy during the 18th century. The decoration of these mirrors is made up of multiple rococo elements, confusing volutes, shells and braces, particularly underlined for the pediment and the lower part of the mirrors. The technique used is that of tinning, consisting of applying a layer of tin to a metal part, in this case copper. The use of this technique makes it possible to accentuate the initial desire of the mirror to illuminate a space. Indeed, the combination of the reflective part of the mirror with the material of the frame that surrounds it creates a real radiance.
