Object description :

"Large Virgin Enthroned With Child, Spain, Circa 1500"
Large Virgin and Child carved in oak, hollowed out at the back, enthroned, holding the Child on her left forearm. Important presence of the original gilding, which we think could have covered the whole (it seems that it was scraped on the top of the dress and on the folds at the bottom right). The Virgin is crowned, the Child makes a gesture of blessing with the right hand. The left and right sides of the throne are sketched since the sculpture is not in the round. Beautiful presence and great solemnity of the whole Spain, late 15th - very early 16th. Accidents and lacks, in particular the left forearm of Christ. height: 0.89m
