This charming earthenware goat, beautifully decorated with blue plant motifs, was made in Faenza in northern Italy at the end of the 16th century. This type of albarello, that is to say pharmacy pot, the chevrette is distinguished by its oblong shape as well as the presence of a handle and a pouring spout. Indeed, it is the name of a syrup, oximel, made from honey and vinegar, prepared with extracts of squill, oximel scillitique. Additionally, an archangel is depicted winged and in armor, brandishing a sword. It is designated by the inscription “AN. ATM. leaving no doubt that it is the Archangel Gabriel.
