Box Matches Case Wax Silver Metal Susse Frères Paris Flowers Nineteenth

Box opening with two compartments: box for matches forming pyrogen on one side; wax case (with space to heat the wax) on the other, in silver metal finely chiseled with flowers and foliage, signed Susse Frères Paris, from the 19th century. This box is in overall good condition. Signed on the side. A note: slight desilvering in places, slight scratches and wear of time, see photos. _______________________________________ * The Susse frères paper mill was created in 1758, in Paris. The two Susse brothers, Nicolas and Victor, opened in 1806, at n°7-8 passage des Panoramas, the Susse brothers stationery where they sold “the Paris article”. Faced with success, in 1827 she opened a second store on the Place de la Bourse, on the rue Vivienne side, which had just been created. Susse devoted himself to cast iron sculpture from 1839, during the Exposition des Produits de l'Industrie, and this would become his main activity. The same year he publishes his first catalog.
