Jens Risom (1916-2016)
Danish designer, practicing in the United States

Trained at the Copenhagen School of Industrial Art, he began working at the Nordisk Kompaniet in Stockholm (equivalent to the Parisian department stores).

In 1939, he left to live in the United States and a few years later participated in the launch of the Knoll Furniture Company by creating a dozen models. It is the first line created for, manufactured and distributed by Knoll.
He was one of the first designers to bring Scandinavian style to the United States.

He left Knoll in 1946 and launched his own Jens Risom Design studio, which he sold in 1970.

Jens Risom is a design star of the 1950s-70s, for him the object should not be satisfied with aesthetics, he said that "A designer must keep in mind function, comfort and workmanship. ".
